Chiiiiiiii

YAY! Happy anniversary Ayuchan / Chii / Karen !! I haven't talked to her much lately (lots of blogging + work equals less interaction LOL) but she's a sweetheart and checks up on me now and then. I remember when the first video of her collection came out, then yesterday as I was going through oodles of solos I came across her stuff again and decided that I'd make an entry to share the five videos she's released so far!

I know I probably seem to have my favorites when it comes to dubbers, people I talk about a lot or fangirl over. But hey, it's my blog; I'm allowed to fangirl some, right?! Ayuchan is an incredible singer and I always always immensely love listening to her. I hope y'all enjoy these next videos as much as I do!! (In case it's confusing, I refer to Karen as Chii, Ayu, & Ayuchan. They are the same person).



[01] Kioku no Meiro / "Type: Regular solo fandub (one of those in which I try and impersonate all the original vocals in the song)." / I'm not the biggest fan of H!P dubs where singers try and sound like the different girls. I see the fun in it and how it could be a way to challenge yourself for kicks, but I guess I don't take them as seriously? They're still cool to listen to though, especially when someone's real good at vocal imitation.

I can't help but love this because Ayu sounds SO good- regardless of which of her voices she uses, there's still a hint of her under it all, and she has a beautiful sound. I will say that she's awesome as Maimi! Ayu's natural voice has always reminded me a bit of the C-utie, and so taking that extra step to sound like her results in a crazy good Maimi.

I also really like Ayu as Ai! And her Yuuka is pretty adorable. The chorus is probably my favorite part of this dub, firstly so because the melody is awesome. The solos are all good & interesting -the Maimi/Ai ones I think are especially lovely- but when Ayu puts all her voices together, the overall sound is wonderful!



[02] Madayade Dance cover / "Type: Dance and close ups video. (This one is not that serious, we never rehearsed and we actually planned it 'in the moment')" / LOL I always have so much fun watching Chii and her friends have fun. I laugh, smile, giggle and have a darn good time!

One time my older sister and mom were doing something at the table, and I was reading/watching some dubbing-related thing and had a lol moment. And they were like, "I love when she just randomly busts out like that." (my family seems to think that when I have my headphones on -which is all the time- that I can never hear them. So they often don't address me, but merely refer to me) Well Ayuchan's dance covers are one of the things that make me randomly lol.

I know I've said it before, but Chii is a fantastic dancer! Her movements are so smooth and sure, and she smiles all the while. Kotarou is one of my favorites in Morning Crew! I love his expressions and how he gets so into it. So when he popped next to her in the chorus I was delighted and then laughing. Some of the moves to Madayade are funky but fun. (egah, I can't put a name to the short-haired girl who also joins in).

As Ayu said, this isn't a serious dance cover. There are some goofs here and there; her movements are more certain than the other two's, but it's all mainly for fun. Watching this makes me want to seek out dubs of this song, cause it's so catchy. Overall; fabulous!



[03] Eyes on Me / "Type: ChiiAyu cover (this is my own version of the song -no imitation-). This was a one and only take recording." / I DEMAND an MP3!!! Okay well, I mean I really really want one!! Final Fantasy was actually the first Japanese music I recall listening to. A friend of mine made me a mixed CD with songs from different FFs, as well as a few other games, and this song was on it (yes I know it's english, lol. But most of the songs were not). I remember loving track 16, but I have no idea what the song was. I'll have to try and find the CD and figure it out. Anyways~

This is a beautiful song that is beloved by many many people. I think it's so cool that Ayuchan got to record it in an actual studio!! And I love that she used a FF video; it's a wonderful visual accompaniment to Chii's gorgeous singing. What gets me about this song is the music itself, the melody, the piano, violin, etc. Simple but oh so pretty. This is sensational for a oneshot recording. Love love love.



[04] Hangry And Angry MEDLEY / "Type: Solo Fandub- Tribute to my favorite duet ever." / kjnejkwfnkjf. It's a big difference going from a song like Eyes on Me to stuff as rocking as H&A, but it shows that Ayu can sing all kinds of genres, and pull it off tremendously every time.

Angelia is my favorite H&A song (of what I've heard from them), and I think it's a great first choice. I love that she sang a little bit of verse, and then skipped to the chorus part in the second half. She sounds spectacular!! She's fully soloed Angelia before.

I'm not familiar with Romantic ni violence and you don't hear much of it, but I really really like how she sounds on it! I'm new to Top Secret as well, Ayuchan totally nails it! Her note at 4:14 is killer!! OMG! Sometimes with ChiiAyu I forget that I'm listening to a dub, and not something official.



[05] Crazy About You / "Type: Dance and close ups video." / Have I mentioned what a good dancer Chii is? WOW! I love that she has a slightly different outfits for each girl, and she moves so well! At this point my mind is mush from all the amazingness of these videos, so sorry if I'm short of words. The Madayade dance was fun and it's to see her friends in it. But I like how this is pure Karen. Energetic, expressive and downright excellent!
