Misc Reviews by Fae

Hey! Fae here~ So I've been on semi-hiatus due to exams and not able to write my entries here, but I'm finally back! (Only 1 exam left!) I'm sorry some of these entries are so delayed!

First up, SoraProject's Kiss Kiss Kiss. I saw an entry earlier here talking about this same project where they weren't sure of the cast so I did a little searching through the channel and came up with this! I'm sorry if it's wrong. Please put the cast on your videos guys? It makes it a lot easier for us here on Blabodu to write if we know who's singing, and also it makes it easier for people listening to check out other dubs by members of the cast!

Tsugunaga Momoko: rozentorndoll
Natsuyaki Miyabi: Rasubelly
Suzuki Airi: FuonYuri

Kiss Kiss Kiss by Sora Project / The song starts off with Airi, sung by FuonYuri. Her voice is so uber pretty! She really delivers that solo well! She's followed by rozentorndoll. D'awww. She's so cute! The mixer added a critique into the drop down box for her to "Practice lyrics a little too." which I would also advise her to work on. Occasionally her pronunciation and timing is off, but that doesn't detract from the super cuteness!

The chorus is up next and it's great! The girls blend nicely. rozentorndoll can stand out from the other two sometimes but I think this is more related to volume difference than anything else. Sora should work a little on keeping the girls volumes the same, and also turning the volume of the group parts down a little.

At 0:46 we get to hear the first solo from Rasubelly! Her voice is really nice throughout! The mixer also gave a critique for her to watch her high notes in the song. There were a couple of places I could hear Belly struggle with these, but as this is a pretty high song I completely understand! With a little more work I'm sure she'll manage them!

I really liked that Sora added the 'Kiss Kiss Baby' parts in the bridge of the song at 2:52. Her voice is really pretty and it gave this dub a unique feel to it! The song finishes up with another high energy chorus! I really liked that there was a lot of energy coming from all of these girls! It made this really enjoyable to listen to. This group is definitely worth keeping an eye on! I can only suggest working a little more on timing and the other things I've already mentioned!

Shimizu Saki: diabolicbread
Tsugunaga Momoko: Love94Sonic
Tokunaga Chinami: Miriko96
Sudou Maasa: Konata
Natsuyaki Miyabi: Izumi
Kumai Yurina: Stella
Risako Sugaya: Iaukiro
Ishimura Maiha: ?

Piriri to Yukou groupdub (hosted by Iaukiro) / Another dub where the cast list isn't quite clear. I guessed that Maasa was Konata and Miyabi was Izumi, so I'm sorry if I got it wrong! Also, I have no idea who's singing Maiha's part... so I think I'll refer to people by who they're dubbing here!

I really love Piriri to Yukou though! It's definitely one of my favourite Berryz songs. Cute, energetic and solos for everyone; what more do you need?! This cast really did a great job too! I can't help wanted to dance along~ The solos are all pretty short though, so I won't be saying too much about individual voices. The first set of solos is amazing though! The Chinami and Maiha singers sound so adorable! I just want to dive on them and give them a hug! *squeals*

The Maasa and Captain sound super cool in their solos! Their voices are so amazing! I just wish I could hear more of them. Whoever sings as Momo really stood out to me as having tons of energy! I really loved how her line came across! The Risako, Yurina and Miyabi parts all sound great too! There were slight differences in mic quality between people in this, so it would have been nice if they could be fixed. The high pass filter is really helpful in fixing stuff here!

The blending in all the duets is really nice throughout this! As the majority of this song is duets between the same group of people, I'm glad that these groups all blend well! Occasionally there were little dips in energy in these duets, but overall they are all fantastic! The last group "Piriri to Yukou!" sounds great! Carry on spicing things up guys! (Lame pun alert! Haha.)

Rika Ishikawa: Yui [YuiChuru]
Erika Miyoshi: Mizu [AnimeXLover28Kat]
Yui Okada: Belly [Rasubelly]

Kacchoi ze! JAPAN by Shoko! (xKiraKiraProjectx) / This is the debut of a new group from KiraKiraProject! "This group will cover all kind of pop groups that has 3 members and consists out of me, the Leader, and our new pre-gen 2 members." Wow, these girls all blend so well!

The timing in the first group parts is perfect! There does seem to be something missing somehow though, a little extra 'pow!' is needed throughout the song from all the girls. I'm not sure if it's energy missing (although I know Belly normally has good energy, so probably not) ... it seems that everything is muffled? Whatever it is it'd be great if it could be fixed so that I could hear the full power of these girls' voices because they all sound fantastic!

Yui starts the dub off with the Rika solos. Her voice is so pretty and cute! She really delivered her lines well. She's followed by Mizu. Wow, her voice is so mature here. So coool! I love how it sounds. This is followed by more of the epic blending and another gorgeous Yui solo.

Belly sings next. Waahhh, her voice is so nice! I love the way she sings. I really like the 'Hey!' parts in this, for example at 0:56. So energetic! Yui and Mizu both seem to struggle a bit with the high notes in their solos at 1:20 and 2:24. Although Yui manages to pull it off with only a little strain, Mizu's pitching goes a bit off.

The choruses in this are really one of the highlights for me! Aya was saying earlier about how this often seems to be the case for her in dubs and I have to agree. It's lucky really, as the chorus is the part of the song that gets repeated. These girls blend so nicely during the group lines at the end of them and their solos are all fantastic during the choruses.

This song finishes up with one more of these epic choruses "YO! KOSO heiwa" before we hear a last repeat of the "KACCHOI ZE!" section. Yay, blending! Apart from the strange muffling thing this turned out really nicely! The girls all have really unique voices which is nice to hear and I'm sure this group will turn out fantastic. Congrats on debuting!

Misc~

Bah, I forgot that I had plans tonight after work. So I didn't get home and relaxed and changed until after 8pm, and then I was really sleepy, which made blogging difficult. But! I can say that there are currently about eight or so dubs getting reviewed by my lovely little helpers. I don't know exactly when they'll be up though, since we all know that life has a way of, well, getting in the way, lol.

And I'm slowly making progress, checking things off my list as I go. Hopefully, since I have no plans tomorrow, I'll get more done after I get out of work. Thank you to all the people who have taken the time to PM me their requests! I like to discover new groups and I'm always up for listening. I'm a bit backed up, but I will get to everything!!

OH, as you can tell, BTW nothing happened this weekend. I just couldn't fit it in. So I'm going to keep plugging along at my lists and shared vids and requests, and if I get a chance, I'll do a backtrack on solos sometime this week, but no promises. If nothing else, there is always this next weekend! Annnnd, I need to go to bed now, so here's a bit more until tomorrow~

Solo (In order of hearance):
Menami [MS EGGs] (as Minegishi Minami)
Purply [MS EGGs] (as Kojima Haruna)
Valentine [MS Gen.5] (as Takahashi Minami)

Relax! by RUBY (Milky Star) / Takamina! Miichan! It's been a while since I listened to anything AKB. I like other songs by no3b more, but it's cool to see something non-H!P in the mix. No lyrics! But I know that there is a place like projecthello (but, er, different) for AKB as well; Studio48, found at Stage48.net ~ so here are color coded lyrics from there so y'all can follow along if you like.

Purply starts the dub off marvelously with her solo of the first chorus line! &Holyfrick, I love the Va/Me duet right after her They don't so much blend, they just sound good together. Both with different voices that can be picked out of the duet, but go well with one another, ear pleasingly so. Plus they sound really good on the line there, "kimi wa mou ganbatteru kara" ~ the 'mou' is freaking cute!!

The following "Relax! Relax! kokoro ni...." etc occurs a several times throughout the dub, with different girls singing the 'kokoro ni' and other such parts. All of them are fabulous!! I don't know if it's just me, but the instrumental seems a little loud (goodness knows, I've had headphone problems lately, so it really could be just me). The solos are all great, but the highlight for me in this is the duets! The girls did a splendid job on them! All the blending in this is awesome.

I kind of agree with some of what's said in the comments; this song isn't as easy as it may seem, so props to this trio for tackling it. There are a few off notes here and there, but Kappa took the words out of my mouth....hands? ~ "It's not perfect, but still a lovely cover!"

Saki Shimizu: Mystery [xLittleMystery]
Momoko Tsugunaga: Akari [Byakna] [graduated]
Chinami Tokunaga: Kurumi [chocolatekurumi] [Cover]
Maasa Sudou: Yui [YuiChuru] *Cover*
Miyabi Natsuyaki: Choko [xXxChokocchixXx] [graduated]
Yurina Kumai : Serené [o0SweetSunshine0o]
Risako Sugaya : Belly [Rasubelly]

Seishun Bus Guide by Crispy Crossies (xKiraKiraProjectx) /I forgot how this song went until the dub started up. I've never really listened to it much, I guess. You can tell right from the start that some people have more energy than others; the first group sounds much stronger than the second. Belly sounds fantastic on her 0:18 solo! And Akari's 0:25 solo is really quiet; cute but hard to hear. All of her solos are like this. I love love Kurumi's 0:47 solo!! So pretty and well delivered.

I like the 1:16 group "hitorijime shitainda" though someone sounds a tiny bit off. Choko (1:24) has got some funky timing going on. She seems to sing a little too fast sometimes, or stumbles over the lyrics. There is no flow and she sometimes hits off notes. It's not much to go by, but I rather like Yui's "kore ga jerashii" at 1:52. Oh, and her 2:14 solo = rabu. Following at 2:17 is Mystery; she's only got two solos in this, not much to go by. I know that I like her from having listened to other dubs she's in, and I think I prefer her on other songs than this.

Belly did a great job on her Rii parts, like at 2:10 & 2:43. Serené (2:50) is kind of on the quite side as well, she could use more volume and umph! Overall, there are some small things that could be better, but the Kira girls did a marvelous job~

Como la flor by ChiiAyu (DoubleCProject) /This is gorgeous!! I completely love and adore Karen's voice, and will listen to her sing anything in any language, anytime!! I really like what she did with the video, it's very creative. This dub is the third track on her 'Non-japanese Covers; First Collection' ~ I don't have much to say, especially since I'm unfamiliar with the song language, lol. But I love every line in this dub, and every word from Karen's mouth; she has such a strong, rich voice. Look forward to the next track; 30 minutes-T.A.T.U

Misc Auds

"Five months ago something epic started. And now we want you to be part of it. Can you sing with energy? Can you sing with passion? Can you follow rules? Can you fight for your dreams? Can you sing better than Koharu? Can you be the best? . . . .three girls will join us. You're welcome to try. May the best win. Game on."

LOL, I find this video highly amusing, in a good way. I think Hello! Club put a cool spin to this audition video of theirs. Auditioning isn't really about beating out other people, but the dramaticness of the video makes me smile. I like how well the pictures go along with whatever the text is at the time. The drop-down section has the audition form and rules~

"Hi everyone! I got a bit overwhelmed with the weekly video updates for the auditions so I've decided that this one will be used for a permanent audition video. The Hello!Project All Stars Idol Competition of Summer 2010 has opened for auditions until all 16 weeks/themes are completed." You can read more in the video's drop-down.

It's 5am, so I'm not functioning very well right now. Just trying to get this entry posted so I can crawl into bed, LOL. I met Renna today, the creator and leader of HPAS, and she is a really nice girl. Check out my entry on the contest, where links are included.

Kira!Kira Project Generation 2 auditions / The majority of the info is in the video. But you can find an audition form in the drop-down, as well as which spots are currently open. I would have put more of the info that's in the video also in the drop-down, since you have to stop and play the video & the text isn't always super easily readable (depending on size). But, don't hesitate to apply if you're interested!!

Kira Candy Concert

LOL, this is what happens when Aya gets distracted in MS paint for a bit while playing banner mash-up. I went crazy with the free form selection tool, if you couldn't tell. Anyways!! There is a point to this (you'd hope so, nee? I spent a while screwing around with this image, cause I'm odd like that). I took the drop-down section messages from Belly and My-Chan's videos and combined them;

"My Kira Kira! Project and my project [Candy!Project] are holding a summer concert together. More informations will come later. We're working on all songs now, we will probably start with releasing our concert somewhere in July, so keep an eye on that and please support us! Beside us leaders, we sang together with Momo-chii because she was the one who made Belly-chan come to the idea to make an announcement video for our concert. Thanks Momo-chii~"

I'll be keeping an eye out!

Ai Takahashi: Momo [MomoxMochi]
Reina Tanaka: Belly [Rasubelly]
Risa Niigaki: Mystery [xLittleMystery]

KiraKiraProject - SEXY BOY

I debated a bit over whether I wanted to cover this next dub, but I finally decided to~ Ugh, be prepared for a monster of an entry. If you skip my wall of text, I totally understand, lol.

Yoshizawa Hitomi: Sootie [SootjeNL]
Takahashi Ai: Bel [MomoxMochi]
Konno Asami: Choko [xXxChokocchixXx]
Ogawa Makoto: Kurumi [chocolatekurumi]
Niigaki Risa: Mystery [xLittleMystery]
Fujimoto Miki: Serené [o0SweetSunshine0o]
Tanaka Reina: Belly [Rasubelly]

Kamei Eri: Mizu [Cover] [AnimeXLover28Kat]
Michishige Sayumi: Mystery [Cover] [xLittleMystery]
Kusumi Koharu: Mizu [Cover] [AnimeXLover28Kat]

SEXY BOY ~Soyokaze ni Yorisotte by Midday Musume (xKiraKiraProjectx) / Not wow-worthy, but it's their first dub as a group. I'm an optimistic person. I like to look for the goods things, or point out what I liked. Though I'm not against a little critiqing; I try to balance things out. I think everyone deserves a pat on the back and some compliments to go hand-in-hand with criticism and advice.

A lot of the time the music was louder than the girls, not overpowering; it just pulled for attention from enjoying these wonderful dubbers' voices. Whether it's the music that needs to be lowered in volume or if the girls need to sing louder, or a combo of both. It's just something noticable.

[*] Opening solo at 0:27 is Mystery. I dislike that this song has such short solos! The two seconds of her voice that you do hear is hard to form an opinion with. I played it over and over again. Her "hoshii" didn't sound super confindent, but I really liked how she sounded on the "nara" - there was either a trill or a short vibrato, hard to tell, but it was lovely.

There are a ton of duet/trio/little group parts in this. 0:29 is the first set; Kurumi, Serené and Belly. There is good blending, though someone wavered a little on the "te" in "subete" - not that it sounded awful, it was like a tiny trill, but almost veered onto an off note. It did sort of give that part a little extra character. The "ageru kedo" was lovely.

The next set is Bel, Choko and Mizu at 0:35. I couldn't really make out the beginning, which is supposed to be "ubaeru" but all I got was the "-eru mono" after a slightly jumbled start - it was just a little unclear. But the ending note of that line (on the "no") was hit very well. The three girls blended wonderfully on it.

The reason I'm going down to the very second and all the little parts and words is cause there are a bunch of short solos, and we all know H!P never divides them fairly. And I want everyone to get talked about. Even though it may seem silly/crazy to break it up so much.

[*] Mizu at 0:40 seemed a little unsure on her "zurui" - again, hard to form an opinion with like a second. I'll wait until I hear her again. Around 0:41 you hear the same first trio and they sound great, but at 0:43 it seems to drop down to one girl & I don't know who it is. With the low mature voice, it could be Mizu again, but idk.

I curse Tsunku for the 2 second solos. Momusu wise, it's cool. But dub wise, it sucks for getting a good listen. 0:46 is Sootie. I really liked her "nara." The following trio line was messy. I know mixers can only do so much, so I don't know if the girls were not on the same beat and therefore super hard to mix together? Also the ending "ne" was really off.

Serené has a really good voice, but she needs to sing with more confindence! The "mizushibuki" of her 0:52 solo was pretty good, but on the second half she seemed to shy-out/quiet-down on her "agenagara" - she could blow people away with her vocals if she only sang with more umph! Sing it loud and proud, y'all!

[*] 0:59 is Belly and she sounds good; she could maybe turn it up a notch in volume and energy, though she stays on beat well. She has a pretty voice. The "SEXY BOY" at 1:03 is listed on projecthello.com as being Sayumi/Reina, which would be Mystery & Belly. But I don't know if that's how it was done in the dub, because it sounds like more than two people. Or maybe it was them with backing vocals? idk, but it was nice.

Bel at 1:05 - she has pretty good energy, but she's pitchy. You can tell she tries to put in that character that Ai sings with, and she manages fairly well. Her "mirai" was good, but the end of her line was off key. The "fall in love" at 1:13 was a nice group part

At 1:18 the girls are spilt into two groups for the "IPPAI kitai" lines; (Sootie, Kurumi, Serené, Belly, Mizu) & (Bel, Choko, Mystery, Mizu, Mystery). I think the second "IPPAI" was delivered better that the first. I can't figure out how to describe why. I liked how the 'E' part sounded. But the end of the second group's "kitai" went a tiny bit off key. The blending on the first "IPPAI" was really good!!

[*] Okay, I'm going to cut back on details for the rest of the song. I'll cover solos from those I haven't yet & such. Choko is at 1:49 - she has a clear & cute voice, from the little that I hear. But she could maybe have used a pinch more energy. All of the little group parts throughout the rest of the dub were pretty good. And I think the "SEXY ue ue"s were adorable.

And at 2:01 we have Kurumi singing her short little "watakushi" line very well! Oh, I'd like to hear more from her. I like the sound of her voice a lot. I commented before on how I'd have to hear Mizu again, since her first line was so short. Well she's got the solo at 2:20, and she sounds lovely/cute but too quiet. 2:14 and 3:18 were Belly's best solos, I think.

The beginning and ending (as well as throughout the song) "chimata de uwasa no SEXY ue ue" parts were cute. They weren't always totally spot on, but overall I think they were well done. This dub could have used more energy, but leader(s) have acknowledged that there was a "lagging of energy" and I agree with their positive attitude; "if we all keep practicing we will get that better" ~

Energy and pitch! Practice makes progress! xKiraKiraProjectx is a new dubbing project (which I'll cover in further detail another time). This is their first group dub and Midday Musume's debut, but there are also two Solos up on their channel, if y'all wanna have a listen.
