OH BOY

I'M SUCH A FANGIRL FOR THESE FELLAS

I love Jay, Ryan, Himi, and Tai (+ Ian, graduated member) so so so much! All of their singles have been absolutely smashing!! If they were an actual boy group in the big times, then their singles would have been total hits every time! I have to say that their Yume Miru 15sai and Warp are two of my favorites, BUT that was before I heard their latest three releases. Yeah yeah, I'm a bit behind. But I shall enjoy catching up!!

Before I do, the news! Jay contacted with me to chitchat a bit and informed me that Tai will be graduating from the main group (★Boy-ono!) mainly due to school, but will remain in the group's Special Unit! ~ As I already mentioned in my PA-FE Kyuuto entry a little bit ago, the boys of Boy-ono and the gals of PA-FE are going to collab!! Super excited for this, I am! ~ And last but not least, I spyed the 'Upcoming Releases' on their channel and squeaked with delight when I saw Minna Daisuki!

Now on to share time~

Kioku no Meiro / I've had the mp3 to Kioku (by jr.) for a while now, so I'm not quite so new to it. But I loaded the video+dub for the first time tonight (plus I haven't listened to my playlists much this week) and Jay&Ryan totally rocked my world. They sound so cool and and idk, perfect!! Spot on emotion and delivery!! They sound fantastic!

I didn't like this song much the very first time I heard it- well since then I've heard it a bazillion times, so I know what I'm saying when I say; these two OWNED this song! My brain is so entranced by their epic singing that words fail me. But it's awesome! Freaking superb! So y'all should totally listen to it.

Take Off Is Now / . . . . . . . . . khjgnsjkwgnjsgrnk! I don't think I've ever heard Himi sound SO wow. He's usually cute+fabulous and makes me Awww and wanna squeeze him and dance at the same time & stuff. But in the beginning, he is all manly and lower and strong- and totally blew my mind.

Himi sings with great confidence and energy, plus lots of sex-HEYBBY-ness!! His nails all parts of the song, so much that I'm not sure which I like the most. I love love love him on the verses!! He is singing his heart out, and as a listener you can really tell. The emotion and attitude are awesome!! I adore his entire solo and am really impressed! Kickbutt job!

Kiss! Kiss! Kiss! by ★Boy-ono! / You know what y'all? This song is not a piece of cake. It's not even a mini cupcake. It looks like it's all sweetness and delight, but it's really evil. I almost dread seeing this song pop up on my subs list, because in all honesty; most dubs of this song are a bit iffy (that and it's overdubbed, lol). Y'all know that I always stress that it's not about being perfect, and I'm with that all the way. But this song likes to be difficult, with it's melodies and the high notes in the chorus.

When I saw that the guys had picked this song, I was all engines racings- YAY MORE BOYONO, BRING IT ON, I LOVE THEM! This isn't their super best work, but I give them insane props for taking on this song. For giving it a go, for probably going URGH fjknwjk a kajillion times in frustration. And I usually hear this sung by girls; this is a dub by all guys! I think their high notes turned out pretty darn good!

So I shall take in everything; the off notes, the sometimes funky timing in lines, the slight strain here and there AS WELL AS the magnificent sound of these gentlemen's voices, all of their wonderful lines, the charming verses, the smile that was a permanent fixture on my face when I heard how darling they sound on the chorus. And I'm gonna tuck it away in the BOYONO pocket of my heart and remain a delighted fan. Cause these boyz gotz skillz and don't no one deny it. If I remembered how to spell 'fighting' the japanese way, I would so be caps-ing that right now.

Samishii yo

I freaking love this next dub. I'm sure there are other all-male dubbing groups on YT (though I've never really come across any of them), but you've got to admit that it's mostly girls who dub H!P. I know I probably jump on this topic every time I write about these guys, but it's really cool to hear these kind of songs by a bunch of boys. I've greatly enjoyed every dub released by them, but this is definitely one of my favorites.

First off, because I love the song. Buono is an awesome group and that's what Boy-ono covers. The H!P unit does have a lot of cool/cute songs, but I like S/mileage's two official singles more. I was very excited to read about the impending debut of this new group after I read about it on the project's YT channel, and when I saw that they picked this song I was even more excited!

"This group features the 3 current members of ★Boy-ono! plus Ryan, who is a really awesome singer and harmonizer! This group will focus on covering upbeat H!P songs, and we're starting off with Berryz Koubou for our second single!"

Maeda Yuuka: Himi (Himitsuni)
Ogawa Saki: Ryan (RyanEatPho)
Wada Ayaka: Tai (TawanaiGachou)
Fukuda Kanon: Jay (jExtremist)

Yume Miru 15sai by Specials Unit (Boy-ono) / kjbfkef kgngkjne. You know what that is? Me turning to goo. My insides becoming mush. My brain melting like a peach popsicle on a hot summer day. Listening to these guys always makes me feel warm and fuzzy and smiley. This entry is basically going to be me fangirling, so I warn y'all now. I don't even know what to write about first.

Ryan has the first solo, and just hearing that little line alone has already got me at a loss for words. He's SO GOOD. kjnfjfejn I love his voice!! I've listened to his solo like ten times trying to figure out what to say about him. The boys in this all have smooth, gorgeous sounding voices with a cuteness to them. Like sweet chocolate for my ears; and in that case I want to give my ears (if it were possible) a very bad stomach ache in the most delicious way.

0:34ish- Tai has an awesome voice too! He fits Ayaka well and I like his "aru no yo" ~ I know y'all have heard me ramble on about Jay before, but I can't help myself. I completely adore him. His 0:38 solo is wonderful! Himi is the cutest in the group, so I can see why he was cast as Yuuka. He does well on her "Ah"s and solo lines during the pre-chorus, like at 0:44.

OMG, the "summer love" lines are fabulous!! All of the group parts are! The blending is incredible, the overall sound drool-worthy and mind-blowing. If I had to be picky; the "summer love" line could be a bit more enunciated and delivered with a little more umph! but I still love'em. 0:50 is Ryan, I love the way the lyrics of the line sound when sung, they flow easily and Ry delivers superbly! His "dekiru" (especially the higher held out 'ru') is terrific!

The "Minogasenai" at 1:01 is a great example of more awesome blending; I looove it. And the same goes for all of the group lines in the following chorus; ohmygoodness- the chorus is without a doubt my favorite part of this dub!! Solos are; Ry (1:11), Hi (1:20ish), Tai (1:20) and they're all great. I really like Jay's "Kimi ga sanbiki de" line at 1:24.

You can also hear Ryan's harmonies throughout the dub, like on the chorus and pre-chorus; they're outstanding! The first "FIFUTIIN" at 1:30ish is dazzling+epic! 1:40 starts the second verse, which is exactly the same as the first expect for different lyrics; the solos are all scripted the same. Once again, Himi and Ryan handled their different solos+high notes well!

Sometimes the two duets in this are mistaken as solos; they would be by Tai/Hi but I'm not sure if I'm hearing them together or not, because they could blend to sound like one. idk, either way, the duets are swell. I really like the group "Tanoshii mon" at 2:10, which leads into the next bit of chorus. Sometimes Himi needs a little more energy, like on his "Kimi ni dakko sare" at 2:20, it's quiet and passive.

Some more solos; Ry (2:30, 3:11), Tai (2:31ish, 3:06), Jay (2:33, 3:21), Hi (3:04, 3:27). And then in the last chorus I like Jay at 3:07, and Ryan's following solo. The group "Samishii yo Samishii yo" line at 3:17 sounds fabulous! I adore Himi's "FIFUTIIN" at 3:27, and Tai ends the dub with a softly spoken "Summer Love" ~ regardless of any little things that could be picked at, I really enjoyed listening to this.

Kantan meiryoo!!

Momoko Tsugunaga - Himi (Himitsuni)
Miyabi Natsuyaki - Ryan (RyanEatPho)
Airi Suzuki - Jay (jExtremist)

Janakya Mottainai by Boy-ono / JAY! He spoils me, but I love him for it. I've had the MP3 to this for a little bit now, so I've already had the pleasure of rocking out to this trio of deliciously talented guys. I'm not super familiar with the song but I am in love with this dub of it. The guys sound SO GOOD! And the video is super cool; props to Himi for vid mixing.

Tai Tai couldn't be in this single, because of school. So he was covered by Ryan, "who is a member of 'Specials Unit'; an expansion of ★Boy-ono! that covers a variety of H!P songs. I would like to thank him for covering so quickly and adding some harmonies to make this cover more unique!" Ohmygosh, are all the harmonies in this by him? They're spectacular!

And speaking of, 0:24 is Ryan. I recently heard him for the first time in a groupdub (look to the right sidebar, featured Gag100 dub), and I adored him instantly! He has the first line in this, and it's just a short little "Araamu jiriri" but I totally love love it! Gosh, he has such a clear sound and an awesome voice. Holy crap, Ryan and Jay could almost be vocal twins! Jay follows right after him, sounding clear and fantastic with nice energy.

All of the guys are fabulous on the verse, Ryan and Jay & Himi as well! I like that they take turns, rotating through the same order; this is how the song is originally, so the props go to H!P for line division. They seem to do pretty good when it comes to Buono and fairness. One thing I have noticed (and mentioned before) is that Momo often gets a different melody that falls between the verse and chorus. 0:45 is Himi, and he's all darling and chanty. It's really catchy and he sounds great.

Chorus time!! (0:54) These guys sound wonderful together! The S' are a little sharply Ssss-like in the "desho ne?! Sou desho?" ~ the C in "Zekkoochoo" and the J's in the ending lines also have that sharpness to them, I don't exactly know what to call it. It's not awful but it does prickle at your ears, especially if you're listening at the volume I am, lol. Regardless of any minor things, I really like the "Janakya mottainai"s!

1:37 starts the second verse and I adore the effect that's used on their voices! I like Himi's "raibaru ga girari" solo at 1:42ish a lot, and Ryan's following solo is my favorite from him in this verse. The effect is only used for half of the lines; Jay's 1:55 solo is without it and I love the melody of his line, he sounds terrific! Then it's more chorus, following Himi's 1:58 chanty solo. And again after the instrumental break, more chorus.

The energy level is pretty sweet and I'm just lovin' this trio. The verses are my favorite part of this dub, even though the chorus is really good. Overall these guys did a kick-butt job on this song and they're totally worth a listen. Thanks to Jay and Himi for sharing!! I love Ryan, but I hope to see TaiTai back in action soon. And whatever this "Special Unit" thing is, I cannot wait for it!

★★★

I have too much fun sitting around making things in paint, lol. They aren't even that great usually, and they distract me from blogging. The star should be at the start of their name, since this group is called ★Boy-ono! but I liked the way it looks in the middle of the image more. Anyways!! They are "an all-male group dedicated to covering songs by Buono!"

Jay contacted me towards the beginning of this week with a request that I check out Boy-ono. He was a real sweetheart too, "Most of the time, people put out dubs and rarely get views but your blog helps me see new groups I've never even heard of before, so thanks." ~ D'aw. That is an awesome thing to hear, since that's one of my goals!

Momoko Tsugunaga - Himi (Himitsuni)
Miyabi Natsuyaki - TaiTai (TawanaiGachou)
Airi Suzuki - Jay (jExtremist)

Renai Rider / Freaking A. I didn't know what to expect; well, I've heard Himi before, I know of TaiTai but I don't know if I've ever heard a solo of his, and the same goes for Jay. BUT GEESH, this is awesome!! This isn't a fave Buono song of mine, I kind of like the chorus and that's about it, but when I heard the first group part I was like; fjknf kjfnewjk jkne wah? EPIC.

I have gotten so used to writing 'she' and 'her' when I blog because the majority of H!P dubbers are female. So I think this is a really cool group; props to whoever had the idea! It's nice to hear more male dubs in the mix, and I hope that this group keeps going strong!! But anyways, on to the dub itself!

Tai starts things off at 0:24ish, his "Sekai ga" sounds really good! But you can tell the second part of the line is not quite in his range- but! keep in mind that this is usually sung by teenage girls, and three guys adjusting to that might not be spot on. The following two group lines are marvelous!! I adore how this trio sounds together.

0:36 is Himi, whoa; he sounds like a kid-Momo at first. Which isn't necessarily bad, having heard him before I know he has a nice middle/high voice and so Momo isn't as much of a step up for him as it would be for other guys. Jay at 0:47, kjefnw kfenk klfklm! I really like his voice, I know he's a guy but really, I instantly think; cute! His notes, and his transition from one note to the next, are both very smooth. I like his entire solo here.

CHORUS = TOTAL WIN. Ohmygosh I love it!! The first one is at 1:00, and I started fangirling right then. I can't even think of words to describe what I think of how they sound together. It's like, very smooth and flowy and soothing and delightful and happy-making. I'm totally smiling as I listen. The blending is fantastic! MP3, I demand an MP3 *pointy at Jay* Send one to me or I shall PM you asking for one.

--Offsubject but, I SO listen to stuff that I download. My most recent ones are Junran's Seishun Collection (HanaProject), Tsuugaku Vector (HanaProIndies), As For One Day (alo!kira), Fuantei's Resonant Blue (IKP), and Naichau Kamo (cremeproject). I slap them on the top of my ever growing Dubs playlist and just let it cycle through.--

1:31 is Tai, same as his first solo really; I like his "Ashita wa" but then he loses strength in his voice the lower he goes and there is strain that makes him borderline pitchy. But! Hearing him in this has got me interested in hearing him in Boy-ono more, so I will be sure to check out other dubs too. Sometimes your voice just doesn't suit a song, or the key isn't right for you- I know Tai is a splendid singer and I look forward to listening further. Plus, he contributes to the group parts, which I love.

Himi at 1:42, I'm sorry but he really does come across as a young Momo, in an endearing way; especially his "happii" in this solo. It's towards the end of the line on his lower notes that you hear his more male-like voice. I'm also curious to hear him on another song besides this one. Holyfrick, Jay's 1:52 solo is just as smashing as his first; mega raburabu. I'm really glad he shared this with me!!

More spectacular chorus at 2:07; uwah! I like how they sound on the "Raidaa" and their ending "kame" is so so pretty. Chorus is definitely my favorite part of this whole dub, hands down. If the evil sea witch Ursula were to ever hear Jay, she might decide to ditch Ariel and try to steal his voice instead. He sounds brilliant at 2:59!

Following is Himi, which I really like here! Not too Momo-y, just his own unique voice. And I think 3:09 is Tai's best line!! And then we get one last awesome chorus! Wow, I guess the song choice didn't have me very thrilled, but hearing the dub in full (several times) totally turned me around. This is worth a listen~
