It's kind of hard to wrap my head around how much I've missed out on. I've been wracking my brain for some kind of system to help me catch up and I've decided to go back to the random number generator I was doing. I'll get a number and thus a letter, pick a project that starts with it and then! I'm going to write about one of their recent dubs and do a mini re-cap on the project's other dubs. lol, well this is my plan, we'll see. People who've sent me requests, please be patient. Ily'all~
The first thing that will always come to mind when I think of this project is Naichau Kamo. It was the first release I heard from SD and remains one of my favorite dubs of that song. Actually, now that I look back, it was the project's debut! Since then they've released five more dubs, two of them very recently.
I again point y'all in the direction of their forums, if y'all are interested in checking them out. One of the good things about them is that, even though SD doesn't list cclyrics in the drop-down section of their dubs (which is somewhat bothersome), you can find them simply by finding the correct thread in their forums. On to the dubs! The unit Bokura no Kaze just released their second single. In both songs, Dee covers for Angeru. Also, Kaye covers for Rixie, on top of singing her own lines.

Tomodachi wa Tomodachi Nanda / A-side (July 16th) / The volumes are a little iffy sometimes; Kaye sounds a bit quite overall, and the group parts tends to be louder than the rest of the dub. But overlooking volumes, this is pretty good. As I mentioned the other day, I've tried singing the verses in this and they can be tricky. Heck, just listening to the song tells you that. So even though some of the faster lines in this are off-time or a bit unclear, I give the girls props for giving this song a go.
I'm going to skip around a little bit ~ The cast isn't always together on the chorus, it's sort of varies from line to line. I really like the first "Tomodachi wa..." (1:06), but on the next group part (1:15) one girl is louder than the rest. I like Kaye's 1:10 solo, she has nice timing and sounds lovely. 1:19ish is Dee, who delivers fabulously and is real cute. The following duet is hard to hear, kind of quiet and mumbly. 1:28 is Chisako, geesh I like her singing, she's got a great sound. Very cute+lovely. I adore her light vibrato on "kono" and her whole solo is fab.
Mashiro (1:42) has a beautiful voice and Mirai (1:51) is so kawaii! Their solos in the second verse are rushed, but I adore them both all the same. The following chorus is marvelous. Though I think it's Chisako that I'm hearing the most on the group parts, which isn't bad, but if the volumes were more equal then the blending would be even better. Timing, volumes and energy could use a bit of work. The pronunciation and clairty are iffy as well, but I think that's partially due to the pace of song. Overall, these gals still did a nice job.

La La La Shiawase no Uta / B-side (July 16th) / This song and dub just oozes cuteness. All the "LA LA LA"s and such. But everything I said about the previous dub is the same for this one. The timing isn't always spot on, the volumes (especially Kaye's quietness) are iffy, and the girls aren't super together on group parts in the chorus. Mirai is actually kind of quiet in this as well, but I think it might be more her vocal volume, whereas with Kaye it could be her mic or how her part was mixed.
But when it comes to BOTH dubs; mixing is a learning process, and SD's leader said that she doesn't have a lot of experience. However, I think that volumes is the mixing, while timing and energy are individual. Well timing can be viewed more than one way; timing as in the mixer lining up music and vocals & the singers singing on beat (in time). Anyways!! This single turned out pretty nice overall. Practice brings progress!
And last but not least, just for kicks, here's Naichau Kamo;
