Misc Project Releases [C] Part 2
Aika -- Risa
Yurina -- Nina
Saki -- Yuri
Risako -- Belly
Summer has Come! (Charms Project) / While I don't like many from them, I've always liked this Guardians4 song. I'm really happy that a concert version was used for this dub, since it's way more interesting than the actual PV, for me at least. I think everyone really suits their part, but from a look at the comments, Yuri doesn't think she's much of a Saki. I may say that someone 'fits their part' or 'makes a good Miyabi' but it's mostly an observation.
The leader of Charms Pro put it very well! "Charms! is not about being a voice clone of the one your dubbing, it's about being charming in your own way~" Ohmygosh, that is so well said and so true. I still think everyone suits their parts pretty well, including Yuri. Nina's singing sounds so natural coming from Yurina's mouth (whom we all know I love), they just have a similar way of singing.
Risa also commented about not sounding like her part, and yeah; she doesn't make me think Aika at all - She's much cuter!! She does have the same sweetness that you simply pick up on while listening, and she has a somewhat similar delivery. I think she's adorable and I'd never say that about Aika. Another point for the leader, "Charms! Project is all about having fun while singing! We don't really care if you're not Aika's voice clone~"
And while Belly may not be a vocal clone of Riisako (which is much prefered), she's has the same great energy combined with her own unique and awesome voice! It's her strong delivery that makes me think she suits the role. With Yuri, I think it's the pep that she sings with, since Saki always has good umph! Pwsh, Yuri has a cuteness that is totally unSaki-like, but I wouldn't have her any other way~
I think all of the girls did a wonderful job on their solos and the group parts sound fabulous! This is a marvelous dub overall! I don't know which part I like the most; they're great individually, but I think I like them together most. Group parts always make me happy. Togetherness! Belly does tend to sometimes stand out with the strength of her vocals, and other times it's a great balance and blend. And even though the girls aren't always super together, I still love'em, like at 2:43. Awesome!
Tachiagare Otometachi (Charms Project) / This is only my second time hearing this song, and I really like it. The verses, like the beginning part, are EPIC. I love whoever it is that wrote them (even if it's Tsunku, lol). Going from the last dub to this, I had to instantly lower the volume because it was such a difference that it made me wince. Either the previous was too soft or this one is too loud.
Even with the volume lower, I'm still picking up on some static fuzziness. It's a little bit distracting, but not super awful and mostly during the chorus when the girls sing together. What is that high voice that sings the little parts right after lines in the verse? Is that part of the instrumental? Part of the song that the girls sung? Or simply something extra? I'll admit that I find it a little weird.
3:14 to the end is my favorite part; it's starts the solos with less background music and they sound terrific! And then we get some more chorus and one last round of the amazing "Tachiagare Otometachi" ~ Overall I give these girls props for taking on this song that many people haven't picked to dub. They did a really nice job on it, and despite the minor things, it turned out pretty well. The timing is right on and I love love love the blending!! Plus, the video is a fun and creative idea.
