If you remember Hello!Club from their debut and my first cover of them - "our goal is to cover Hello!Project songs according to it's timeline." The A-side to their first single by Melody Musume, Loving Coffee, was released in the first half of April. And now the girls follow up with the B-side; Ai no Tane~
Abe Natsumi - Raiko [mirailai]
Iida Kaori - Michiru [hitsugayahinamori]
Nakazawa Yuko - Kokoro [coconstorm]
Fukuda Asuka - Midori [midoriiw]
Ishiguro Aya - Aiko [aikoaki]
Even though Michi was a tough leader on the girls (understandably so), I think this is spectacular!! I do agree that it could have used more energy and emotion, but the singing is wonderful. I haven't listened to any dubs of this song recently, but I want to say that this is one of the better ones, definitely. Momusu's first single is one of my favorites, and I think H!C did a pretty good job on it!
And I'm probably overlooking it, (blinded by optimism, lol), but I didn't notice the off timing. I haven't really sat here and listened super hard for it, so I can safely say that when casually listening it doesn't jump out at you like a large hairy scary monster or anything. I listened to this like 12 times last night before bed and again now, & even if it could be better I can't help liking it.
I adore the simple pretty melody of the chorus to lovely little bits, and I think these girls did a good job on it, except maybe a little more emotion would be nice. Some of the solos were too quiet, semi-pitchy or lacking energy, but overall they were pretty good. The girls probably need to work a little individually on whatever they feel needs improvement. As long as they keep having fun!
I liked the groups parts; this cast sounds good together. And whatever the number of wrong notes was, for every one there was a splendid note somewhere else in the dub. Keep practicing and I just know that each single will be better than the one before! The next two songs on the timeline are Summer Night Town and A Memory of Summer '98 - both of which I like. I'm looking forward to the B-side; it's such a pretty song.
