Seeds of Love YAY!
Nakazawa Yuko: LilRae [TalentlessLoser]
Ishiguro Aya: Yumi [SugoiYumiChan]
Iida Kaori: Merodi [AiMerodi]
Abe Natsumi: Louie [TawanaiGachou]
Fukuda Asuka: Momo [xsclsm]
Ai no Tane by Midnight Musume (Yoru Project) / The harmonies sound off to me in the beginning. The first chorus is only Natsumi, Kaori and Aya, and the only time you can really hear the harmonies in the original is on the "ai no tane wo makichirashitai" line. But in this dub, it's as if the trio (Lo/Me/Yu) has the first line at 0:12, and then the remaining singers (Lil & Momo) join in one at a time on the next two lines (0:19 & 0:22). I'm not sure why it's like this...?
And then at 0:26 it sounds like the trio again on the first line, before someone(s) come in with a higher hamorny part? However they did it, it's not perfect but everyone sounds pretty swell. Even though the harmony that's sung sounds out of place with the melody on the ending "i" because there isn't much of a volume difference, I still like the way it sounds.
After listening through the first verse (where the majority of the songs' solos are), I picked out my favorite line from each person and I'm going to go through them. 0:46 is LilRae- wow, she's spot on! Her notes are so pretty; I adore her whole solo, the ending "ta" is especially nice. Though, I think her mic makes her sound somewhat...muffled, for lack of a better word. 1:00 is Merodi, she has such a lovely clear sound and sings splendidly! Her "yo" is beautiful. I love this song for it's low notes.
With Louie it's too hard to decide between his 1:10 and 1:24 solos, they're both so good! In a way he really suits Natsumi's part. His "koe" in the first solo is gorgeous, and I also like the ending "wa" in the second solo. He delivers both of them wonderfully! 1:37 is Momo, who's a bit pitchy but still sounds sweet. Her solo isn't very long, and I find myself somewhat liking her odd "ki ni" ~ 1:40 is Yumi, her ending "te" came out manly-ish (lol) and a tiny bit off key, but it made me smile. Her "omoide wo" is real lovely.
2:07 is more chorus. Gah, I pulled up a YT vid of the original song+PV to check on the harmonies and then ended up listening to the song a few times through. I've always been a fan of Momusu's debut single, since I think Ai no Tane and Morning Coffee are so pretty. Yes yes, lots of harmonies, but great melodies. I'm always happy to see a group taking on either song, so even if there are some minor things, I'm enjoying this dub.
The solos from 2:35 to 3:00 are marvelous- Louie & Merodi sound terrific, and Yumi's ending "you" is a bit funky but the rest of her solo is swell. Momo's solo here ties with her previously mentioned one; she's barely pitchy and sounds great! Overall, even though the chorus' are a little messy this isn't bad for a debut, not in the least! I'm new to this project as well, and found no info on their profile. I'll have to look into it~
