I think I am new to this project, but when I went to their forums, I was already signed in from a previous time. So I don't know when or why I signed up (it says my last visit was 05/20), and I'm pretty sure I've never written about them before. . .idk, lol. HonkiProject was originally SakuraYumiProject. But it's Leader, Natsumi, decided to change the name as she thought it was, "super ridiculous and long." I don't remember it by it's previous name either.
Much like the above banner - which is freaking adorable - Honki's forums are very cute and colorful. However, not very informative when it comes to learning about the project itself. There is some release information, but not much. As for groups, as far as I know, there are a total of five; Ohayou Musume, Kagayake Koubou, °K-irei, E/gao, and Yume! And as for the last group, here is their latest release;
Tsugunaga Momoko : Kuri [KuriDesu27]
Natsuyaki Miyabi : Natsumi [KonataIzumi124]
Suzuki Airi : Arisu [RaReiRoo]
Take it Easy! / Kuri starts things off - she does have a cute voice, but it's almost too cute. To the point where I don't always find it very enjoyable. However, I read a few comments where people said that she's improved, and I think that's great!! 0:40 is Arisu - she hits her high notes very well and has a lovely voice; her solos caught my attention the most in this. Someone mentioned that Natsumi sounds like she is forcing, and I have to agree. You can tell that the higher notes aren't in her range, she strains on them and is a little pitchy. I'd like to hear her sing a song in her range, I bet she'd sound great.
The chorus is pretty good; these three sound swell together. Natsumi's strain isn't as noticable, and Kuri's uber cuteness is balanced out some by the other girls' voices. Sometimes it's hard to hear Arisu in the mix, but I know she's in there. The blending isn't very consistent, but it's there now and then, and it's nice. Kuri has the first "shining" at 1:36, followed by Arisu - who both did a fab job on them - and then Natsumi's is at 1:38, and she sounded kind of....unenthusiastic. I would have liked some more umph! from her on it.
Verses at 1:47, again starting with Kuri. I don't know how to explain it really, but on the first words in her lines, it's like she starts at a really high note and then comes down. Like "HI-ka-ri" - with her"hi" being very high and off key. Yes, that is how the song goes, melody wise, but it's like she takes it to an extreme, perhaps unintentionally? It's not that she isn't kawaii, her way of singing just niggles at me. But practice makes progress, nee? And no one is perfect, I totally give her props for dubbing and having fun.
Arisu at 2:00, gosh her high notes are so pretty and so spot on. 2:13 is Natsumi, she starts off good on the "koukai to" though there is some strain on the "hansei to no" - I do like her "kitari ja" but after that she's pitchy again. I think the chorus is my favorite part of this dub! This trio really does sound snazzy together. Arisu has the first "shining" and it's as wonderful as before. Natsumi sounds nice on hers this time and Kuri's voice cracks a little bit.
Oh, other than the chorus, 3:30 would have to be my favorite part! Kuri's solo is good and Arisu sounds marvelous. Butbutbut!! Natsumi's sounds amazing!! This is what I have been waiting for from her! Her best line in the whole dub, she sounds cutely awesome! And then the dubs finishes off with some more fabulous chorus. Overall, there are a few minor things that could be worked on, but this turned out nicely!
